One week later, the entire group, plus Ragina, are on a cargo vessel on the ocean approaching England. Ragina is trying to train Daniel Kravitz to use his magic Chosen One powers, specifically Disappearing Retreat, the one he's confirmed to have done, but he is failing to make it activate at will. Alexis Augustus Armentrout, observing, suggests recreating the circumstances in which they first manifested, which Daniel points out is kind of impossible. Ragina perks up to hear Daniel and Abby Reynolds broke up. Daniel tries to change the subject back to training, but Ragina and Alexis are more interested in bonding over how a poor a student Daniel is, unfocused despite his potential.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the boat, Abby berates Rufus Reginald Rochester for not being in on the training session, too. Rufus points out that they have no one schooled in magic among the remaining group and says he's trying to bone up on a few spells from Josh Wallace's books. Grezit the Green is present as well, and Grezit wants to join Daniel, but Rufus worries the training situation is tense enough without the Gahroo's interference. Rufus reminds them that he trusts Alexis, and even if there is reason to be suspicious, you have to have faith in somebody sometime. Besides, the magic is more urgent.

Abby asks Rufus what the plan is once they make landfall. He tells her she will hide someplace safe while the rest try to sneak into the U.L.P. headquarters and catch the leadership trio unawares. Rufus hopes to convince them to step down without killing them. Abby thinks they'll expect the group to come. Grezit favors a frontal assault, but Rufus worries about bloodshed, even if Abby thinks Alexis and Ragina are expendable. Abby asks what if they don't step down, and Rufus admits that he may be forced to kill, but won't take pleasure in it. Rufus insists there are three bad eggs in a noble cause, and is confident the U.L.P. itself can be salvaged.

That night, on the deck, Abby finds Daniel looking over the railing. He tries to tell her to go to bed, but she turns that back on him, and tells him it's OK if he's not fine. He can be open with her. She also says it's ridiculous they aren't back together yet and asks if he's

really trying to forgive her. Daniel admits to reading a book about relationships, but worrying about her distracts him and he fears that could cost them another teammate. He begs her to stay hidden away during the battle and she agrees. Daniel finally forgives her, and when she pushes a romantic reconciliation, he gives in. They kiss... a lot.

The next morning, Rufus bumps into Ragina in the ship's galley. She insists he sit down with her, and tells him he almost found her a couple of times during his search. She thinks he's a misguided old fool, but they're family, and she would miss him if he dies. Rufus regrets the past and wishes he could have saved her from the Ultimate Evil. She laughs, returning that she's one of the most powerful people on the planet and doesn't need saving. Besides, the Ultimate Evil isn't evil, and is named

Kali. Rufus and Ragina argue over if the means justify the ends, as both want the world to be a better place. Ragina offers him a place in Kali's employ, but he turns it down. She then asks Rufus not to force her to kill him.

A few hours later, the boat hits land and the group gathers to disembark. Grezit immediately senses that Daniel and Abby slept together, which elicits mixed reactions from the others. Daniel asks which way do they go, and Rufus tells them to follow him.
